Islamabad: TikTok personality Samiya Hijab has announced a conditional pardon for Hassan Zahid, the man accused of threatening and attempting to abduct her. Speaking to Private media on Friday, she said her concerns had been addressed and the allegations against her had been withdrawn.
“My fears and reservations have been resolved by Hassan Zahid,” she said, adding that both sides had decided to put their differences aside and move forward positively.
According to Samiya, the conditional pardon means that all disputes between her and Zahid including financial matters and disagreements over videos will be considered settled. Under these terms, both parties have agreed to an out-of-court settlement. A written statement will now be submitted to the court, after which the case is expected to be dismissed.
Earlier in the day, a local Islamabad court had sent Zahid to jail on judicial remand in connection with the threats case. He had previously been remanded in custody in a abduction case. Police investigations were still underway at the time, with officers searching for Zahid’s three alleged accomplices, a vehicle, and a pistol believed to be linked to the incident.
Case Background
The controversy began on August 31 when a video went viral showing Samia being forced into a car in Islamabad. Sharing the footage on social media, she warned that she feared becoming the next victim of a crime similar to the killing of fellow TikToker Sana Yusuf. She accused a young man of harassing her and pressuring her into marriage.
Following the video’s circulation, Islamabad police registered an abduction case at the Shalimar police station. Zahid was granted pre-arrest bail, but another FIR was later filed on Samiya’s complaint, this time including charges of abduction and criminal threats. Police then arrested Zahid.
In her early statements, Samiya claimed Zahid had been threatening to kill her for months, pressuring her to marry him, and had once tried to abduct her from her home. Zahid’s lawyer, however, told the court that the two had been engaged and had a longstanding relationship.
Emerging Details
As the case unfolded, police sources confirmed that Samiya and Zahid shared a close relationship in the past, meeting frequently and traveling together. Investigators also revealed that large sums of money had changed hands between them, which may have contributed to the fallout.
Samiya told police that Zahid had physically assaulted her and tried to abduct her, leading her to distance herself from him. It was after this rift that Zahid visited her home, allegedly to reconcile and persuade her to marry him. During that encounter, the viral video of their altercation was recorded.
Police sources further suggested that both parties were inclined toward an out-of-court settlement, aiming to resolve financial disputes, delete sensitive videos, and agree not to discuss the matter on social media.
With Samiya’s conditional pardon and the upcoming submission of her affidavit, the case appears to be heading toward closure.
