
Punjab News: Special Girdawari has started in the entire state from today to assess the damage caused by the recent floods. In this regard, Punjab’s Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundiyan today instructed all the officials concerned to complete the process in a transparent, time -bound and result or -oriented manner so that no affected family is deprived of getting compensation.
Hardeep Singh Mundian said that according to the guidelines of Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann, this campaign has been started on a war footing. The Chief Minister has assured that every flood victim of Punjab will be compensated within 45 days. He said that the entire process will be completed with honesty and accountability. This compensation is not a favor, but the right of the affected people. The Revenue Minister clarified that strict disciplinary action will be taken in the event of any negligence or deliberate delay by the officials.
He assured that the state government would personally monitor the entire process on a daily basis to ensure a fair and efficient process of special Girdawari. The cabinet minister also directed to deploy revenue officials of non-affected areas to flood affected villages so that the evaluation process could be completed on time. Mr. Mundiya said that a total of 2167 patwaris have been deployed to get special Girdawari in the flood affected areas of the state. At the district level, 196 in Amritsar, 115 in Barnala, 21 in Bathinda, 15 in Faridkot, 110 in Fazilka, 113 in Firozpur, 343 in Gurdaspur, 291 in Hoshiarpur, 291 in Jalandhar, 84 in Jalandhar, 149 in Kapurthala, 60 in Ludhiana, 60 in Ludhiana, 7 in Malecotla, 7 in Manasa, 7 in Manasa In 141, 92 in Rupnagar, 107 in Sangrur, SAS 15 Patwari has been deployed in the city, 25 in Sri Muktsar Sahib and 71 in District Taran Taran.
He said that teams deployed for special Girdawari will go from village to village, inspect the fields and prepare reports to crops and houses and deaths of animals. Reiterating the Chief Minister’s announcement to give the biggest compensation in the history of the state so far from the Punjab government, the cabinet minister said that farmers and residents will be given an opportunity to register objections within a week to take corrective steps without any delay. He said that farmers will be given Rs 20,000 per acre for crop loss, families whose houses have been completely collapsed and Rs 40,000 will be given Rs 1,20,000 and partially damaged houses. Similarly, the loss of animals will also be compensated as per the prescribed rules, including Rs 37,500 for cow or buffalo and Rs 4,000 for goats.
He said that according to the latest flood reports, about 1,98,525 hectares of crop area in Punjab has been affected. In this, 40,169 hectares of Gurdaspur, Patiala 17,690 hectares, Taran Taran 12,828 hectares, Fazilka 25,182 hectares, Firozpur 17,257 hectares, Kapurthala 17,574 hectares, Sangrur 6,560 hectare, Hosyarpur 8,3222222222222222222222 Hectares, Jalandhar 4,800 hectares, Rupnagar 1,135 hectares, Ludhiana 189 hectares, Bathinda 586.79 hectares, SAS City 2,000 hectares, SBS City 188 hectares, Pathankot 2,442 hectares, Mansa 12,207.38 hectares and 2,240 hectares of Moga have been affected. He said that according to the report, a total of 56 people have died across the state due to another death in Moga district in the last 24 hours. The Revenue Minister further said that the Mann government is committed to hand over checks of compensation amount to the affected people within 45 days.
