West Bengal School Service Selection which held the teacher recruitment exam for class 9 & 10 and classes 11 & 12 will likely release the answer key on 16th and 20th of this week . The WBSSC SLST answer key will be released in a pdf format on their official website www.westbengalssc.com. The candidates can use the key to check and tally their marks.
A total of 2,29,497 candidates appeared for the School Service Commission (SSC) examination held on Sunday for the recruitment of assistant teachers in classes 11 and 12 across government-aided schools in West Bengal, officials said.
According to Education Minister Bratya Basu, the attendance accounted for approximately 93 per cent of the 2.46 lakh registered candidates. The School Level Selection Test (SLST), conducted after a gap of nine years, took place across 478 centres, all located within educational institutions.
Basu added that 13,517 candidates had travelled from outside the state, with most of them from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
In the first phase of the SLST, held on September 7 for assistant teacher recruitment in classes 9 and 10, around 91 per cent of the 3.19 lakh registered candidates appeared across 636 centres. Of those, 31,362 were from outside West Bengal, again primarily from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Commenting on the high participation of out-of-state candidates, Basu said, "I don't want to make political comments, but these figures show how much the double-engine governments in the BJP-ruled states have succeeded or failed in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for the educated youth there."
This recruitment cycle follows a Supreme Court verdict that invalidated the 2016 recruitment process, resulting in the termination of approximately 26,000 school teachers and non-teaching staff.
Basu expressed appreciation for the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) for ensuring transparency in the new process. "There has been so much emphasis on OMR sheets and preservation of copies by candidates. Evaluation of papers and the interviews of qualified candidates will follow as per schedule. But I urge members of the opposition to consider the hopes, aspirations and dreams of the candidates and the situation many of them are experiencing. We have initiated a process which is fair, transparent, and takes care of the interests of deserving candidates," he said.
Chinmoy Mondal, a candidate and member of the Deserving Teachers Rights Forum, said, "We had qualified in the 2016 exams and still lost jobs due to the corruption by a section of those in the commission. Today again my exams went off well. I hope that I will not be a victim of the circumstances again for the fault of the commission."
