Urban Company, which was previously known as Urbanclap, has set a new example in the startup world of India. The company's IPO worth Rs 1,900 crore was liked by investors so much that it became 103 times more subscribed. Share allocation was finalized on September 15, 2025 and on September 17, it was listed on both NSE and BSE. While the share price was fixed at 103, it started at Rs 162.25 on NSE and Rs 161 on BSE, ie about 57% premium.

This success shows how much people trust this startup. This IPO consisted of 4.58 crore new shares and 13.86 crore offer for SAIL (ORS) shares. The company said that through this they have got new capital of ₹ 472.24 crore.

Dream of three friends: from failures to unicorn

Urban Company The real strength of this is its three co-founders Abhiraj Singh Bahl (CEO), Varun Khaitan (COO) and Raghav Chandra (CTPO). These three have become inspiration for millions of youth today, but their start was not easy.

Abhiraj and Varun are studying from IIT Kanpur. Abhiraj later did MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and worked in BCG. At the same time, Varun has worked in America in a company like Qualcomm. After this, both of them started some startups together, but they did not get success.

On the other hand, Raghav studied Computer Science from California University and started a cab service called "Buggi", which could not succeed. But instead of giving up, these three together laid the foundation of Urbanclap in 2014.

Travel till becoming unicorn

Urbanclap started in 2014 with Gurugram. In April 2015, he got a seed funding of ₹ 12 crore for the first time, which further encouraged them. Then in January 2016, he acquired another domestic services company Handyhome. In November 2018, the company raised a series de funding of ₹ 375 crore and did not look back after that. Finally in April 2021 Urban Company Got unicorn status with a valuation of ₹ 7,500 crore. Today its valuation has been around ₹ 24,000 crore.

Network spread in the country and the world

Urban Company is serving not only in India, but in four countries and 59 cities. With this, more than 48,000 active professionals are associated and so far more than 1.3 crore customers have taken advantage of their services. The most popular services of the company include plumbing, electrical, painting, massage, skin and hair care, insects control etc.
