In the public meeting, Prime Minister Modi further said that the Government of India has given importance to the development of the ports of the country during its last 11 years. According to him, India has doubled its port capacity. This success has been achieved due to projects like Sagarmala, which has improved the connectivity of ports. The special thing is that the time of the ships to and from has reduced to less than a day, showing that there has been a significant improvement in the efficiency of the ports.

Modi gave information about the inauguration of the country’s first deep water container transpiration port in Kerala. He mentioned the Bandhavgarh port being constructed in Maharashtra at a cost of more than Rs 75,000 crore, which will be included in the top 10 ports in the world. Referring to the government’s goal of increasing India’s share in maritime trade, he emphasized the goal of tripling it by 2047. In addition, the increasing employment opportunities and increase in the number of sailors in the maritime field were also mentioned.

Emphasizing India’s rich maritime heritage, Modi mentioned the world’s largest maritime museum in Lothal. He described the coastal region of Gujarat as the gateway to economic prosperity and highlighted employment opportunities through examples like Alang Ship Breaking Yard.
