In leafy Surrey, the borough of Elmbridge has been dubbed Britain's answer to Beverly Hills and is home to many famous faces. The borough is made up of towns and villages, including Weybridge, Walton-on-Thames, Cobham, Oxshott and Esher.

Among those with homes in the area are tennis player and triple Grand Slam winner Andy Murray, football coach and former player John Terry, TV presenter Amanda Holden, retail magnate Theo Paphitis, broadcaster and former footballer Gary Lineker, and Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood. It is a quiet yet exclusive cornerof the world where property prices are steep. According to Rightmove, the average property in Elmbridge over the past year sold for a staggering £859K, even outpricing some London homes. Famous residents of the past include Maurice Gibb, Sir Cliff Richard, Mick Jagger, George Harrison, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Kate Winslet, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Chris Tarrant, and Peter Crouch.

Elmbridge has visitor spots such as Claremont Landscape Gardens, which has a large amphitheatre and lake, as well as lots of picturesque pubs like the Anglers in Walton and a Shetland pony club in Cobham.

Nearby attractions include the home of Henry VIII, Hampton Court Palace, Painshill Park, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventure, Sandown Park Racecourse, and Norbury Park.

The borough's name dates back to 1086, when Amelebrige appeared in the Domesday Book, deriving from the River Amele or Emley, now known as the River Mole.

Elmbridge can be accessed by car via the A3, the M25 and the A308, by trains from central London and Surrey, and by bus. From Wimbledon, trains should take no longer than 20 minutes, while from Vauxhall, it'll be closer to half an hour.

East Grinstead, a town in Sussex near Winnie-the-Pooh inspiration Ashdown Forest and numerous vineyards, is also extremely popular with celebs. Tom Cruise, Adele and Peter Andre have both lived in the commuter town. It has also been visited by John Travolta.

In 2016, The Guardian called East Grinstead "Britain's strangest town", citing the presence of The Church of Scientology, the Ancient and Mystical Order Rosæ Crucis, Opus Dei, Christian Scientists, Ashworth Dowsers and the Pagan Federation.
