The world's speediest train is absolutely remarkable as it hurtles along at a maximum velocity of 267mph (430km/h).
It's the planet's sole high-speed commercial maglev service which operates between a metropolis and its airport.
Recently, one woman chose to board the lightning-fast train - and was left utterly astounded.
TikTok user Silvana, who enjoys over 1,400 followers, had been journeying across China and during her 10-hour layover in Shanghai managed to jump aboard the train.
Her caption read: "Took the world's fastest train during my 10hr layover in Shanghai! This is the Maglev train in Shanghai China which stands for Mag (magnetic) and lev (levitation). It hovers above the train tracks and it can go up to 431 km/hr."
This magnetic levitation (maglev) enables the locomotive to "float" above the rails, creating a seamless, friction-free journey.
It links Shanghai's Pudong airport to the metropolitan centre. The traveller was amazed by the entire experience but one thing which stood out was how quick it took her to reach her destination.
Silvana continued: "I wanted to explore Shanghai City for a bit and this seemed to be the fastest way to get there from the airport haha.
"It cost me 80 Yuan / €10,50 for a return ticket and it got me to Long Yang Rd. Station in under 8 minutes *shocked emoji*.
"From here I just took another metro ride for only 4 Yuan / €0,50 and I was right in the centre of Shanghai City! Such a crazy experience."
While it can achieve a peak velocity of 267mph (430km/h), its present commercial operational speed is actually 186mph (300km/h).
The 30km route, employing German Transrapid technology, launched in 2006, providing a rapid and effective, albeit expensive, airport transfer. Silvana, a self-proclaimed backpacker on TikTok, was in the middle of her Asian adventure when she opted to travel by train.
Her post detailing her experience garnered significant attention, with one follower being particularly impressed as the post amassed numerous likes and comments.
Simultaneously, a Reddit thread was initiated by a user curious about experiences on the world's fastest train.
One respondent described it as "incredibly smooth" and added: "Imagine flying but with no turbulence.
"Shame it's basically a glorified gadget bahn with fewer riders than the actual metro lines to the airport.
"I can't say it's that much of an improvement over regular high speed rail though."
Another chimed in: "I was just there for the first time last month. It's super smooth! You can feel a bit of tilt on the curves, in a fun way. Otherwise it felt similar to conventional HSR."
