Ingredients
-Masoor dal – 1/3 cup
-Moong dal – 1/3 cup
-Arhar dal – 1/3 cup
-Peas – 1/2 cup
-Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
-Tomato – 2 (chopped)
-Garlic – 4-5 cloves
-Green chilies – 2
-Kashmiri red chili powder – to taste
-Turmeric powder – to taste
-Desi ghee – 1 teaspoon + for tempering
-Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
-Asafoetida – a pinch
-Coriander leaves – for garnish
-Water – 2 glasses
Method
1. Wash and soak the lentils
First, wash the lentils, moong dal, and arhar dal thoroughly. If time permits, soak them in water for half an hour. This helps them cook faster.
2. Preparing the vegetables
Finely chop the onion, tomato, green chilies, and garlic. Clean the peas as well.
3. Cooking the Dal
Place all three lentils in a pan. Add peas and onions. Add tomatoes, green chilies, and garlic, mixing well. Add Kashmiri red chili powder and turmeric powder for flavor and color. Add 2 glasses of water and cook over medium heat.
4. Checking the Dal
Cook the lentils until they are soft. Remove the tomato peels to ensure a smooth texture.
5. Tempering
Heat the ghee in a separate pan. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Add finely chopped garlic and lightly fry. If desired, you can also add some onion and Kashmiri red chili. Pour the prepared tempering over the cooked lentils and mix well.
6. Garnish and Serve
Garnish with coriander leaves. Your mixed lentil, moong, and pigeon pea lentils are ready. Serve hot with roti or rice.

Tips
1. If the lentils seem thick, add a little more water.
2. Adding desi ghee to the tempering enhances the flavor of the dal.
3. You can substitute peas with any vegetable of your choice.
This method makes the dal delicious, healthy, and easy to make at home.
