Flipkart is making it easier for customers to upgrade their electronics and appliances with an expanded exchange program. The e-commerce company announced the program, which covers 26 product categories, including mobile phones and large appliances.

The goal is to make premium products more affordable, especially for people in smaller cities. Flipkart wants to help customers get more value for their money and encourage them to use the platform more often. The company claims that many households have unused devices and appliances lying around. These items now act as a form of “currency at home,” which can be converted into instant value on new purchases.How does it work?
Flipkart is using a new AI system to quickly evaluate devices. Trained experts will use a "10-step diagnostic framework" to assess the condition of the device. This will allow customers to get an instant value for their old products.The program also allows for cross-category exchanges. This means you can exchange a refrigerator for a washing machine, or an old phone for a new laptop.
How to use the exchange program:
1. Select Product: Choose an eligible item and tap the ‘Exchange Offer’ option.
2. Enter Device Details: Provide information about the brand, model, and condition of your old device to get an exchange value.
3. Get Instant Returns: The exchange value will be deducted from the price of your new purchase.
4. Place the Order: Choose a delivery time and provide shipping details.
5. Doorstep Exchange: When your new item is delivered, an expert will inspect your old item, confirm the value, and complete the exchange after verifying with an OTP.
Flipkart is also improving its ReCommerce system with AI-powered pricing, app-based diagnostics, and image authentication. They are also working with more sellers to offer a wider range of products for exchange.
Flipkart has launched smartphone exchanges via Flipkart Minutes, becoming India’s first platform to offer instant mobile swaps through quick commerce. Its SellBack program continues to grow across 45+ cities, allowing customers to sell their old phones at their convenience, with added benefits for those opting for Flipkart gift cards.
