New Delhi: After five years, the Bihar Assembly elections have been announced. The Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, held a press conference and shared important information to the election process. Every system, from voter lists to voting, has been ensured for this two-phase election.

Voting and Counting Dates

Bihar elections will be held in two phases. The first phase of voting will take place on 6 November, and the second phase on 11 November. The results will be declared on 14 November.

Chief Election Commissioner Statement on SIR

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that the purification of the voter list in Bihar began on June 24, 2025. A draft list was published on August 1, followed by a period for claims and objections. from August 1 to September 1. The final voter list was subsequently released on September 30. He also stated that any errors can be appealed to the District Magistrate.

Bihar Has Total Of 74.3 Million Voters

According to Election Commission data, Bihar has a total of 74.3 million voters, including 39.2 million men, 35.0 million women, and 1,725 ​​transgender voters. Additionally, 720,000 disabled voters, 40.4 million senior citizens over the age of 14,000, and 14,000 centenarians are eligible to vote. This includes 16.3 million service voters, 16.3 million young voters (20-29 years), and approximately 140.1 million first-time voters (18-19 years).

Polling Station Facilities and Arrangements

A total of 90,712 polling stations have been set up in Bihar, with an average of 818 registered voters. Of these, 76,801 are located in rural areas and 13,911 in urban areas. 100% webcasting has been implemented at all polling stations to ensure a transparent and secure election process. Additionally, 1,350 model polling stations have been established, providing better facilities and assistance to voters.
