GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has revealed he has undergone an eye procedure as he issued a health update online. On Wednesday (October 8), the 65-year-old broadcaster was noticeably absent from the GB News studios, which sparked several queries from fans online. Now, the dad-of-four has taken to Instagram where he shared two selfies taken after his recent hospital visit.

The TV presenter could be seen with a medical eyepatch covering his right eye as he poked fun at his condition online, with the first picture appearing more expertly applied than the other. He captioned the post: "One of these eye patches was put on in the hospital and the other one by me. See if you can guess which? PS You should see the other guy !!!!"

The former This Morning host has been flooded with well-wishes and support from his loyal fanbase online. One user wrote, "Eamonn, this looks sore. I'm sending you big hugs and positive energy to get well. I hope you are okay!"

Another added: "Hope you're okay, Eamonn, take care of yourself," as a third encouraged: "Does the job! Speedy recovery to you. No fun this getting old malarky is it?"

The former This Morning host has been suffering from multiple health woes in recent years, after he slipped three discs in his back in 2021, losing "full mobility". He has since been seen using crutches and a wheelchair to assist him with walking.

The broadcaster has been open about his health struggles in the past, previously saying he was on "borrowed time" and "not OK". He underwent spinal surgery to help repair the slipped discs in his back, but was unfortunately left with chronic pain.

He was off the airwaves for almost four months after the operation but suffered a major setback when he fell down the stairs and "smashed" his shoulder.

While speaking on GB News last year, Eamonn confessed: "I have been basically disabled for a year and a half or so, and it's horrendous. I have to have carers to do the smallest, simplest thing.

"It's humiliating, it's humbling, and thank goodness that the carers are available." Before their separation after 14 years of marriage, Ruth told Women's Weekly about the "testing" time in their family amid his health struggles.

She explained: "I don't know how much Eamonn's mobility will improve. We live in hope. He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right.

"With any care situation - and there are millions of carers in this country - it isn't always easy. It's testing but we manage as a family." The couple, who share one son together, announced their split in May 2023.
