Special initiative of HPTDC on the occasion of Karva Chauth

Shimla/Usha Sharma- On the occasion of Karva Chauth, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has announced a special offer for couples. The corporation has decided to give 10 percent discount to couples staying in all its hotels and restaurants on October 9 and 10.

This year the festival of Karva Chauth will be celebrated on 10th October, in which married women observe Nirjala fast for the long life of their husbands. Around 55 hotels and restaurants of HPTDC are available to avail this discount. General Manager of the Corporation, Anil Taneja said that this festival is very important for Hindu women, and keeping this in mind, the Corporation has taken this special initiative so that women and their families can celebrate this festival in a memorable and traditional atmosphere.

On the night of October 9 and 10, fasting women will be served complimentary ‘Sargi’ in all hotel units, which will include phirni, banana, milk, gulab jamun and mathi. This will make the spirit of the traditional Sargi festival even more special. Apart from this, items like dry fruits, chunri, bindi, bangle, ribbon, kajal and mehndi will also be available in the hotel premises of HPTDC, which women can buy. Pooja thali and karwa will also be provided free of cost to the guests, which will include ingredients like urad dal, whole rice, flowers etc.

On the day of Karva Chauth, i.e. on October 10, special ‘Vrat Thali’ will also be prepared in hotel restaurants, which will be available on payment basis. The Corporation believes that this initiative will not only attract tourists but will also provide an opportunity to local families to enjoy the festival in a serene and beautiful environment associated with Himachali culture. General Manager Anil Taneja said that HPTDC has always been taking new initiatives to provide the best experience to its guests. This discount and special arrangement being given on an auspicious occasion like Karva Chauth is another step in this direction. The Corporation has appealed to the couples of the state to avail this special offer by booking a stay in any of the HPTDC hotels to make this festival memorable.
