The 2025 India Mobile Congress (IMC), Asia's largest tech event, has begun at the Yashobhoomi Convention Center in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event and, in his speech, highlighted India's homegrown 4G stack, a major technological achievement. He described it as an important milestone in the development of India's indigenous technology. PM Modi stated that this new 4G system will not only provide faster internet speeds and seamless connectivity, but will also make services more reliable.
He noted that 100,000 4G towers have been installed in the country, which has attracted international attention. Furthermore, this Made-in-India 4G stack is now ready for export, showcasing India's technological capabilities to the world. Drawing on the past decade's experience, he said that a modern legal framework is also essential to support the country's rapidly growing digital technology.
Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated on the occasion that India's technological ambitions are not limited to 5G alone. India aims to secure 10% of global patents in 6G. He also stated that the satellite communications market will triple to approximately $15 billion by 2033.
Scindia said that Satcom is today expanding connectivity from land to sea and space. He emphasized that the biggest force behind this entire technological revolution is the people of India. In the future, India will become the world's largest digitally enabled power.
India Becomes a Global Leader
Scindia also spoke about India's digital leadership, saying that the country is no longer a technological laggard but has become a global digital leader.
He said, "The day is not far when people will say that the world depends on India. I urge you to design here, develop solutions here, and scale them everywhere. India innovates, and the world changes."
He also pointed out that India is no longer just a service nation but a product nation. The Prime Minister's PLI (Production-Linked Incentive) scheme has so far generated new production worth approximately ₹91,000 crore, increased exports by ₹18,000 crore, and created 30,000 new jobs.
At the event, PM Modi said, "Today, 1GB of wireless data in India costs less than a cup of tea," indicating that digital services are now within the reach of every common man. He also emphasized that the country has strengthened laws to prevent cyber fraud and improved grievance redressal systems.
Overall, the India Mobile Congress 2025 highlighted India's technological achievements and future ambitions. The expansion of 4G and 5G networks, satellite communications, 6G readiness, and investments in digital skills are making India a strong technological power globally.
