Read this fast story on Karva Chauth
A moneylender had seven sons and one daughter. The moneylender’s son loved his sister very much. The moneylender’s wife observed the fast of Chauth along with her daughters-in-law and daughter. The fast of Chauth is broken only after seeing the moon. That night when the moneylender’s sons started having dinner, he asked for food from his sister. The sister told that she was fasting and she could break the fast only by offering Arghya to the moon. The youngest brother could not see his sister, so he lit a lamp on a tree far away and kept it under the cover of a sieve. He showed it to his sister from a distance; The lamp placed behind the sieve looked like the moon, as if it was the moon of Chaturthi. The sister told her sisters-in-law that the moon had come out and that they should break their fast, but the sisters-in-law ignored her and refused.

The sister could not see the cunningness of her brothers and offered the curry and ate a morsel. As soon as he put the first bite in his mouth, he sneezed. In the second bite she found a hair and when she took the third bite, she got the news of her husband’s death. She felt very sad. Her sister-in-law told her the truth as to why this happened. The goddess became angry at him for breaking his fast. She resolved not to cremate her husband and to revive him with her chastity. Grief-stricken, she sat near her husband’s dead body for a year and collected the grass growing on it.

He observed Karva Chauth fast every year on Chaturthi and next year, when Kartik Krishna Chaturthi came again, he observed Karva Chauth fast with full rituals. In the evening, she requested the married women, “Take Yam’s needle, give me my husband’s needle, make me a married woman like you.” As a result, with the blessings of Karva Mata and Ganesha, her husband comes back to life. Just as Ganpati and Karva Mata listened to him, let everyone listen to him. May everyone’s honeymoon last forever.
