
NEW DELHI: Without even stepping onto the field on Day 1 of the second Test against West Indies in Delhi, Jasprit Bumrah achieved another milestone, becoming the first Indian pacer to play 50 matches across all. formats.
By retaining an unchanged side for the second Test, India ensured Bumrah’s 50th appearance in the longest format of the game. The right-arm pacer has so far played 89 ODIs and 75 T20Is. Across all three formats, he has taken a total of 467 wickets – 222 in Tests, 149 in ODIs, and 96 in T20Is.
Other Indians to feature in the elite list of players with at least 50 appearances across all formats include MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and KL Rahul.
Bumrah etched his name in the record books during the first Test against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, becoming the fastest Indian to claim 50 Test wickets at home.
He reached the milestone in just 1,747 deliveries while returning impressive figures of 3/42. Bumrah also matched Javagal Srinath as the joint-quickest Indian in terms of innings, getting to the mark faster than legends like Kapil Dev, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Shami.
