
Karva Chauth The festival of is most special for married women. While in this festival there is a ritual to worship Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati and Karva Mata, this festival is also considered a symbol of love, trust and dedication between husband and wife. On this day, married women especially prepare by doing 16 adornments and observe Nirjala fast from sunrise to moonrise without eating or drinking anything.
In the evening, during the puja time, they worship Karva Mata along with rituals and listen to the story. After this they wait for moonrise at night. When the moon rises, married women complete their fast by taking water from their husband’s hands while worshiping Chandradev.

- On the day of Karva Chauth, married women should wake up early, take bath etc. and take a resolution to worship.
- After this, before sunset, start the fast by eating Sargi given by mother-in-law.
- While keeping a waterless fast throughout the day, after sunset in the evening, spread a red cloth on a post in the home-made temple and worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
- After this, place the photo of Chauth Mata on the post and keep an earthen pot and sink filled with water.
- Perform Aarti by offering fruits, flowers and offerings to Karva Mata.
- After this, all the married women gather at one place and listen to the story of Karva Mata.
- After this, when the moon rises at night, pay obeisance to Chandradev and offer Arghya to him.
- Also perform Aarti by offering sandalwood, akshat, flowers and other worship materials to Chandradev.
- After worshiping the Moon, perform Aarti by applying Tilak to your husband and after touching his feet, take sweets and water from his hand.
- Finally, touch the feet of the elder women in the house along with your mother-in-law and take their blessings.
