Diwali Special, Mohanthal Recipe: The festival of Diwali is about to come and preparations for it are in full swing in all the houses. Diwali seems incomplete without sweets. And if the sweets are homemade then it is a different matter. Making traditional sweets like Mohan Thal on the auspicious occasion of Diwali is not only a delicious experience, but it also adds to the joy of the festival.
Mohan Thal is a famous sweet mainly of Gujarat, which is prepared from gram flour, ghee and sugar. Let us know its easy recipe.

Material (Diwali Special, Mohanthal Recipe)
- Gram flour (chickpea flour) – 1 cup
- Milk – 1/4 cup
- Ghee – 1/2 cup (melted)
- Sugar – 3/4 cup
- Water – 1/3 cup
- Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
- Cashew-almonds (chopped) – 2 tbsp
- A few threads of saffron (optional)

Method (Diwali Special, Mohanthal Recipe)
1. Prepare gram flour: First of all, sift gram flour in a vessel. Add 2 tablespoons milk and 2 tablespoons ghee and mix well. This process is called “washing”, which causes the sweet to have a grainy texture.
2. Fry the gram flour: Now heat the remaining ghee in a pan and add this mixture into it. Fry on medium flame until golden. When aroma starts coming from it and the color becomes light golden, then understand that the gram flour is ready.
3. Make syrup: Add sugar and water in a pan. Boil it on low flame until a string of syrup is formed. If you wish, you can add saffron and cardamom powder to it.
4. Prepare the mixture: When the gram flour is roasted well, add sugar syrup to it and mix immediately. Turn off the flame. Now pour this mixture in a greased plate and sprinkle chopped dry fruits on top.
5. Set and Cut: Leave it to cool and set for 1-2 hours. Then cut into desired shapes and serve.
