Madhya Pradesh:- Due to fast paced life, increasing stress and bad lifestyle, cases of heart attack are increasing rapidly across the world. According to the report of the World Health Organization, every year about 1.8 crore people die due to heart diseases, out of which about one-third of the cases are due to heart attack. According to doctors, now silent heart attack, i.e. heart attack without obvious symptoms, is emerging as a new and serious challenge. It is called silent because in this the patient does not feel severe pain or discomfort like a normal heart attack. This happens silently and many times is not detected until the damage has increased considerably.
The main cause of silent heart attack is the accumulation of cholesterol and fat in the heart veins, which obstructs the blood flow. High blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, smoking, excess stress and unbalanced diet are its main reasons. Experts say that the symptoms of silent heart attack are more vague in women compared to men, due to which the diagnosis gets delayed. People above 40 years of age, diabetic patients and people who are less active are more prone to it. Constant fatigue, lack of sleep and mental stress also promote it. This can gradually damage the heart muscles and turn into serious heart disease.
What are the symptoms of silent heart attack?
Dr. Ajit Jain in the Cardiology Department at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital says that the symptoms of silent heart attack are very mild or unusual, hence people often ignore them. In this, slight pressure or burning sensation may be felt in the chest, which feels like normal acidity or gas. Apart from this, signs like mild pain in back, neck, jaw or shoulder, shortness of breath, sudden fatigue or trouble in sleep may also be seen.
Sometimes sweating, nausea or feeling confused can also be symptoms of this condition. Due to reduced pain sensation in diabetic patients, this heart attack can happen even without pain. Therefore, if such problems are occurring repeatedly in the body, do not ignore it considering it minor. This danger can be identified by timely ECG or doctor’s examination.
