Actor, writer, director, and producer Shamoon Abbasi has revealed that the channel objected to casting Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir together in the drama Jin Ki Shadi Un Ki Shadi.

The drama, which airs on Hum TV, has gained significant popularity among viewers for its unique storyline.

Earlier, Shamoon Abbasi claimed in a Facebook post that the story and title of Jin Ki Shadi Un Ki Shadi were originally his own creation.

He explained that he had shared his concept with another person who later wrote it down, and the entire team was aware of this. Initially, Abbasi wanted to direct the project himself, but the opportunity eventually went to Saife Hasan.

Abbasi shared more details about the matter. He said that the makers had significantly altered his original vision. His version leaned more toward fantasy, featuring unique furniture, refined lighting, and a vintage feel, much like The Lord of the Rings.

Abbasi added that while he wanted to showcase beautiful faces, in his imagination, the characters were somewhat comical and eccentric.

He mentioned that the drama’s writer, Syed Nabeel, is a close friend and a talented comedy writer, but not someone who could complete a full script alone. Abbasi said he often had to guide him over the phone, instructing which scenes to delete or modify.

Abbasi also revealed that after the story was completed, he wanted to direct it himself and even waited for nearly six months for confirmation. However, he later discovered that the production house had chosen another director.

When he contacted the producers, he was told that he could direct another drama as compensation, but that project also never materialized.

Speaking about the casting process, Abbasi shared that he had envisioned Syed Jibran for the role of the elder brother, Saqib Sameer for the character of Jin, Sajal Aly for Khushi, Ali Raza for Wahaj Ali’s role, and Gul-e-Rana instead of Mizna Waqas and Nadia Afghan for Tamkeenat’s role.

According to Abbasi, the channel also wanted to cast Ahad Raza Mir, but he was told that if Sajal Aly joined the project, Ahad could not be part of it and vice versa.

He added that eventually, the entire cast was changed. The channel explained that the actors themselves had opted out, but Abbasi said he found this hard to believe, as the concept was unique and no actor would have refused such a script.

It is noteworthy that Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly were married in March 2020, but news of their divorce surfaced in March 2022. Earlier this year, in May, Ahad’s father confirmed that the couple had officially separated.
