Team India made an impressive comeback in the second innings of the 2nd Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Monday. Windies opener John Campbell and no. 4 batter Shai Hope notched up centuries to raise hopes of a remarkable turnaround for the visitors but Indian bowlers led by Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah turned the game around in the session after lunch on Day 4 on Monday. The last wicket Windies pair added 79 runs to frustrate the Indian bowlers. All-rounder Justin Greaves scored an unbeaten 50 while last man Jayden Seales notched up 32 to extend West Indies lead to 120 runs giving Indians a target of 121 and drag the match to a fifth and final day. Chasing 121 to win in possible 18 overs if they wanted to finish the game inside four days Indian started positively with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal getting a couple of boundaries in the opening over. But Jaiswal depart in the second over of the chase bowled by Jomel Warrican. Fellow opener KL Rahul (25 not out 54b) and No. 3 batter Sai Sudharsan (30 not out 47b) played out of the remaining overs cautiously on a turning track against Warrican Khary Pierre and Roston Chase to end on 63 for 1 in 18 overs. The Indian will need to come back on Day 5 on Tuesday to get the remaining 58 runs to win and complete a 2-0 whitewash.   Last-minute runs! ✌️#KLRahul keeps the runs flowing as the day winds down! He put on 177 runs for the third wicket after the Windies were asked to follow-on by Indian captain Shubman Gill after trailing by 270 runs in the second Test. But Hope carried on to bring up his third Test ton – after a gap of 8 years since his twin centuries against England in Headingley Test in 2017. Hope and captain Roston Chase had carried the West Indies team to lunch for the loss of only 3 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav triggers collapse However after completing his third Test century Hope was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj for 103 which opened the flood gates for Team India. Kuldeep Yadav who had claimed a five-wicket haul in the first innings on Sunday then struck thrice in three overs to break the back of Windies fight back. Kuldeep first trapped WI wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach in front for 12 and then Windies skipper Chase chipped one to substitute fielder Devdutt Padikkal at mid-wicket to depart for 40. Kuldeep added a second one in the same over when Kharry Pierre skied one to Nitish Kumar Reddy to be dismissed for a duck. Jasprit Bumrah then picked up his first two wickets of the match dismissing Jomel Warrican and Anderson Phillip in successive overs. Bumrah’s inducker was too good for Warrican’s defence as stumps were sent cartwheeling while an outgoing delivery caught a thin edge off Phillip through to the wicketkeeper to be dismissed for 3. With Hope’s wicket Windies lost 6 wickets for 40 runs to slump to 311 for 9 wickets. Indians were hoping to wrap up the innings early with the umpires extending the second session by half an hour. Indian cricket fans would have remembered that Sachin Tendulkar-led side needed 120 runs to win at the Kensington Oval in Barbados back in 1998 but they were famously bowled out for 81 chasing that paltry total.
