Peace lilies will flower again if you add 1 item to the soil every 2 months

It can be frustrating when your peace lily refuses to bloom, especially as they're known for their long-lasting flowers. This becomes even more of a challenge during the winter months when all houseplants require a bit of extra TLC.

Blooming Backyard experts shared: "Your peace lily flower can last for up to a month and then will turn yellow or green before eventually turning black or brown. Deadhead your peace lily flower at any stage to preserve the beauty of this plant."

Other advice to coax the plant into blooming includes using the right growing material. You can create an excellent growing medium by mixing two parts of potting soil, one part perlite and one part coconut coir, reports the Express.

When planting, inspect the pot you're using. Peace lilies prefer to be snug in their containers, so ensure no roots are protruding.

The experts advised: "Nutrients are essential components in plant health, particularly if you want to encourage your plants to flower.

"Recently purchased peace lilies won't require feeding, but if they've been in the same pot for a while and have used up all the available nutrients, fertiliser or repotting is the only way to perk them up again."

It's suggested to use a balanced fertiliser and to feed them at least once every two months. For peace lily owners who notice more green flowers appearing, reduce the feeding to every three months, or lessen the strength of the food.

This might not assist during the winter months, but there should be an improvement by spring and summer.

According to gardening experts, weak flowers can be a sign of nutrient deficiency. If they are frail or poorly formed, it's recommended to switch to a fertiliser high in phosphorus.

The experts advised: "This nutrient encourages flowering and fruiting in plants and should spur flowering in your peace lily too."

Other tips to promote blooming include maintaining a warm environment and avoiding any abrupt temperature changes.
