1. White bread and refined carbs
Eating refined carbs like bread, flour, pasta or noodles at night is the easiest way to gain weight. These provide instant energy to the body, but it quickly gets converted into fat. It also increases blood sugar and brings back appetite quickly.
2. Fried and fast food
Pakodas, samosas, burgers or French fries – all these are heavy on digestion when eaten at night. Eating fried food increases trans fat in the body, which increases the risk of both obesity and cholesterol.
3. Desserts and sweet things
Eating sweets, chocolate or ice cream at night is one of the enemies of weight loss. Sugar silently turns into fat in the body and also affects the quality of sleep. Eating sweets before sleeping increases insulin levels, which promotes fat storing.
4. Carbonated drinks and packed juices
Think having cold drink or packed fruit juice with dinner is healthy? Absolutely wrong! They contain hidden sugar which is at the forefront of increasing belly fat.
5. Red meat and heavy proteins
Eating red meat or heavy proteins like beef, mutton or deep-fried chicken at night slows down digestion. It also affects sleep and the stomach remains heavy.
6. Excess salt and processed foods
Chips, snacks, pickles or canned food are rich in sodium, which increases water retention. This increases weight and the stomach feels bloated.
7. Late night snacking habit
If you have a habit of eating something crunchy at 10-11 pm, then this is the biggest obstacle to weight loss. Late night eating disturbs the body’s natural biological clock.
