Bihar Assembly election 2025: The matter regarding seat sharing within the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar is becoming increasingly complicated and the dispute has deepened. Everything is not looking normal in the alliance. Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has announced that his party, Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM), will field candidates on two important seats against Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
Dispute over seat sharing in NDA
There was a discussion going on for the last several days regarding seat distribution within the NDA alliance in Bihar, but a mutual consensus could not be reached. Meanwhile, BJP has released the names of 72 candidates in its first list. Although BJP may have released its first list, all is not looking normal on seat sharing among allies.
Union Minister and HAM leader Jitan Ram Manjhi has made it clear that his party will field its candidates against Chirag Paswan’s candidates on Bodhgaya and Makhdumpur seats. Under seat sharing, both these seats have been given to Chirag Paswan’s party. The main root of this dispute is Makhdumpur seat, which was earlier the seat of Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Which ally got how many seats?
Under the distribution of seats in the NDA, the two main allies of the ruling alliance, BJP and Janata Dal United, have decided to contest elections on 101-101 seats this time. This number is slightly less than the 2020 elections. The remaining 41 seats have been distributed among other constituent parties. Out of these, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) was given the maximum 29 seats. At the same time, former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha have got six seats each.

In another important news to seat sharing, when BJP released the list on Tuesday (around 2.30 pm), it gave the ticket to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary from Tarapur seat. Earlier it was being said that BJP would leave this seat for ally Janata Dal United.
Manjhi accepted the dissatisfaction of the workers, but with NDA
Despite the dispute over seat sharing, Union Minister Manjhi has expressed his support for the alliance on social media platform X. He admitted that his party has got less seats, due to which the morale of its workers has weakened and there is widespread dissatisfaction. However, Manjhi clarified that this does not mean that they should “push Bihar towards Jungle Raj”. He said that HAM is fully prepared for Bihar, for Bihariyat, and for the honor of Biharis, and his conclusion is: “The NDA will win, the honor of Bihar will remain”.
