BJP leader Biranchi Narayan Tripathi has strongly condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statement on the Durgapur gangrape case. Tripathi described Mamata Banerjee’s statement as a symbol of insensitive and shameful thinking.

Biranchi Narayan Tripathi said that in West Bengal, which is the land of Mother Kali and where there is depth of culture and faith, such a statement by a woman Chief Minister is shocking. He said that advising women not to go out at night reflects a very backward and wrong thinking. Tripathi also termed TMC leader Saugata Roy’s support for this statement as worrying.

Tripathi said that the way the West Bengal government did not show sympathy towards the victim is extremely unfortunate. He believes that this attitude of Mamata Banerjee is against humanity. The people of the country will never tolerate such mentality and will give a befitting reply at the right time.

Tripathi said that a team of Odisha BJP Mahila Morcha has gone to Durgapur to meet the victim’s family and the Odisha government has provided full cooperation and medical assistance. Odisha government has also assured all possible assistance. We hope that the West Bengal government will take strict action and give strict punishment to the culprits.

Along with this, Tripathi said regarding Nuapada by-election that the process of selection of BJP candidate is in the final stage and the official list will be released in a day or two. He claimed that the party is fully prepared and BJP will achieve a landslide victory in Nuapada.

It is noteworthy that in the case of gang rape of a Dalit girl in Durgapur, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that girls should not go out after 12 o’clock in the night. They should protect themselves. He also said that it is wrong to directly blame the government for such an incident.
