What You Should Know Before Harvesting
When you are planting a jasmine indoors the best thing is that you know the flowers will be free from pesticides. Before placing the plant inside your house make sure which Jasmine you are planning to grow, is it common jasmine (Jasminum officinale) or Arabian jasmine, both of them are good, including the pink jasmine for aromatic uses.
Though Jasmine is a kind of pest free plant but like all plants shows signs of stress when their basic needs are not fulfilled. So when you are growing Jasmine indoor there is a possibility of insect attack. So here are a few things you should avoid and tips to fix problems when they arise.
- Low Light: If you are noticing leaves dropping in the plant that may be due to multiple factors like watering problems and others but one of the main reasons can be the plant is not receiving enough sunlight. So try to place the plant in a brighter location but try to avoid direct harsh rays.
- Overwatering: When plants are overwatered, there is a problem of reaching oxygen to their root hence, the roots can be rotted and the plant may die. If you are noticing the same issue you can check the root, healthy roots are white and fleshy while dark and mushy roots are rotty. And if you are noticing damaged roots, you can trim them.
- Yellow Leaves: Though there is a chance of water issue for yellow leaves but another common cause can be poor nutrition. You can use a good fertiliser to see if the condition is improving or not. Another thing is too much nitrogen also leads to excessive leaf growth at the cost of flowers. If that is happening then switch to those fertilisers that promise to bloom.
- Pests: There are whiteflies or spiders that prefer warmer temperatures that can infest your plant. So if you find that your plant is infected with infest, you can apply a horticultural oil or soap that is labelled for pest problems.

It is said that keeping a plant in the house not only gives a flowering or aromatic smell but also helps managing problems. If you patiently provide care to your Jasmine plant, it will reward you everyday with its blooms.
