
It has now been 30 years since the release of the iconic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The film often hailed as a benchmark for the romance genre was directed by Aditya Chopra and starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. It was an all-time blockbuster becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 1995 achieving massive commercial success and holding the record for being the longest-running film in Indian cinema history with an uninterrupted 25-year run in a Mumbai theatre. As the film completes three decades Shah Rukh Khan reflected on the timeless magic of DDLJ in a statement. Shah Rukh Khan said that it doesn’t feel like the film has completed 30 years. He added It feels like it happened yesterday because ‘bade bade deshon mein aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain…’ but it still feels unbelievable. He further said I’m truly grateful for all the love that I have received from people across the world for playing Raj. Nobody could have foreseen the kind of place the film would make in the hearts of people and I will never forget the moment when everyone started to come… see the film and fall in love.” Shah Rukh Khan continues to rule the hearts of audiences. The year 2023 was a big year for him as he delivered three back-to-back hits with Pathaan Jawan and Dunki. Later 2025 was also a significant year for SRK as he was honoured with his careers first National Film Award for Jawan.
