Bollywood comedian and veteran actor Govardhan Asrani passes away

Asrani Passed Away: On the occasion of Diwali, a very sad news has come from Bollywood. Famous actor and comedian Govardhan Asrani has passed away. 84-year-old Asrani was suffering from a serious illness for some time. He breathed his last at around 3 pm on October 20 at Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai. His death has been confirmed by his personal secretary Babubhai.

Treatment was going on in the hospital for the last 4 days.

According to Babubhai, Asrani was admitted in the hospital for the last four days and he died between 3 and 3:30 pm on Monday. Even before the information about his death became public, his family performed his last rites. His last rites were performed at the Shastri Nagar crematorium in Santa Cruz, Mumbai, where his wife Manju Asrani, sister, nephew and some close people were present.

It is being told that Asrani had already told his wife that he did not want there to be any noise or headlines in the media over his death. Therefore, his family quietly completed the last rites and only after that the information about his death was made public.

Started with theatre

Asrani was born on 1 January 1941 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He completed his studies from St. Xavier’s School, Jaipur. In his early days, he was associated with theater and made his mark in acting. Later he came to Mumbai and started trying his luck in films.

Asrani got her first big opportunity from the 1967 film ‘Hare Kanch Ki Chudiyan’. After this, he played memorable roles in hundreds of films like ‘Sholay’, ‘Chhoti Si Baat’, ‘Abhiman’, ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Dhamaal’. His comic timing and facial expressions made him a well-known face of Hindi cinema.

There is a wave of mourning in the Bollywood world due to his demise. Many artists and fans have paid tribute to Asrani on social media. Asrani will be remembered in the acting world as an artiste who lived comedy with ease and sensitivity.
