Homebase has closed 65 stores across the country this year after the popular DIY and garden goods brand went into administration. Last year, the retailer announced putting a large number of stores for sale as the owners struggled with financial pressure.

However, its new buyers managed to save around 70 branches across the country, with stores sold to Sainsbury's and B&Q. In November 2024, B&Q agreed to buy five Homebase stores, cementing its position as the country's largest home improvement retailer. Meanwhile, Sainsbury's secured 10 stores last year and is expected to buy three more.

The retail brand has stated that every employee impacted by the redundancies was given a minimum of two weeks' notice before their official end date.
