Recently, at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2025, information was shared about a unique blood test, which is capable of detecting more than 50 types of cancer. This test has raised new hopes in the medical field as it can detect cancer even before symptoms of the disease appear.

Galleri Blood Test: What is special?

This blood test, named Galleri, is a multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test. A research team from California studied this test, which included more than 23,000 people aged 50 years or older in the US and Canada. There were no symptoms of cancer in all of them.

The biggest feature of the Gallery test is that it detects small pieces of cancer- DNA present in the blood, which break from the tumor and come into the bloodstream. With this, this test not only detects cancer, but also indicates in which part of the body the cancer may occur.

Accurate detection of over 50 cancers

With the help of this test, it has become possible to identify many major cancers like breast, lung, colon, pancreas etc. In many cases, treatment was more successful because cancer was detected in its early stages. This test also identifies cancers that were previously considered difficult to detect.
