Lucknow-Bhopal expressway: Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh two of the largest states in Indias Hindi heartland will soon be connected via a new expressway which is expected cut the travel time between their respective capital cities Lucknow and Bhopal to under seven hours. As per official details the expressway will be connected to three separate highways each with four to six lanes and construction has started on the Kanpur-Kabrai Highway the Kabrai-Sagar Highway and the Sagar-Bhopal Highway which are being designed to connect Lucknow and Bhopal with Bundelkhand. According to officials the Lucknow-Bhopal expressway will be built along the lines of the Yamuna Expressway and plans are in place to connect it from Lucknow to Kanpur via the two-lane highway and expressway. Under the project a 124-kilometer highway is being built to link Naubasta Kanpur to Kabrai where a bypass is being constructed to allow vehicles to skip residential areas in the region. Official believe that once operational the Lucknow-Bhopal expressway will enable commuters to cover the 600-km journey between the two capital cities in under seven hours enhancing travel experience and convenience apart from boosting trade and economy in the region. While there are no official details about when the Lucknow-Bhopal expressway will be completed and made operational various reports suggest the project is slated for completion for late 2026 and is expected to be operational by the end of next year.
