Bhubaneswar: India clinched a ‘golden double’ in kabaddi at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain.
Odisha contributed to the success of the victorious women’s (under-18) team as Sambalpur girl Priyanka Pradhan played a stellar role.
India outplayed Iran 75-21 in the final to seal gold, after leading 33-12 at half time.
The Indian girls dominated the tournament in style, winning all four preliminary round matches with ease. They saw off Bangladesh 46-18, routed Thailand 70-23, walloped Sri Lanka 73-10 and tamed Iran 59-26 to top the table en route to the final.
In the men’s final too, India overcame the challenge of Iran to claim gold. However, it was a much closer contest with Indian boys prevailing 35-32.
Like the girls, Indian boys too maintained an all-win record in the preliminary stage to qualify for the gold clash.
