ITV crime drama Trigger Point has returned for a third series with Vicky McClure reprising her role as bomb disposal expert Lana Washington.
The third series, which features Jason Flemyng among the cast, sees Lana and her team investigate a bomb threat that soon reveals itself to be the start of a sinister vendetta: someone is targeting individuals and demanding revenge.
Working alongside the Police Counter Terrorism Unit, the Bomb Disposal Squad race against time to find the bomber before they claim their next victim.
Just minutes into Sunday's series opener - which is also available to watch on ITVX - fans were rushing to social media to share their excitement at its return.
One said: "Love a #TriggerPoint return on a Sunday evening." A second said: " It's time for #TriggerPoint I've been looking forward to this all week."
Another fan posted: "Been waiting for this! #triggerpoint." A fourth added: "So excited #TriggerPoint."
Teasing Lana's state of mind in the third series, Vicky McClure shared: "She's not coping. Lana is a strong person, and she likes to see herself as a perfectionist, but I think we very quickly see that's starting to crumble.
"We know from the previous two series that she has experienced a lot of loss, which was always going to catch up with her eventually, and this is the start of it.
"So we are going to be dealing with PTSD, plus she's struggling with tinnitus, and she is relying on medication to get her through. She's quite a lonely character at the beginning of the series."
Joining the cast this year is Jason Flemyng, who plays the role of Steven Wyles in the ITV show, someone who appears to be fed up with the system.
Speaking about his character ahead of the series, the actor said: "The truth is, he's another little man that's fighting the system and has been hard done by.
"In his head, the catalyst system and profit before people, he's had enough and he takes retribution.
"He's not without reason, and Vicky's character isn't battling him politically or emotionally; it's just that he's breaking the law and doing something that puts other people in danger. So, that's the essence of their relationship, I think."
