Amravati : From last few days there is a drastic change in the atmosphere. It originated in the Bay of Bengal Hurricane It hit the coast of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday evening. Between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, winds were gusting to 100 kmph while passing from Kakinada. This caused the fall of houses and trees at many places. It is reported that a woman has died.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, Montha is likely to reach Odisha on Wednesday morning. Montha turned into a severe cyclone. As a result, huge waves formed in the sea and heavy rains with strong winds continued in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and West Bengal. At least 52 flights were canceled due to this. Meanwhile, 120 trains have been canceled in the last 24 hours. A woman died in Makanagudem village in Konasima district due to this storm. Standing crops on 38000 hectares and horticultural crops on 1.38 lakh hectares have been destroyed in the state. About 76,000 people have been shifted to relief camps.
Montha has disrupted normal life in 15 districts of Odisha. The Odisha government has already set up 800 relief centers to prepare for the storm. NDRF teams are also fully equipped in coastal areas. 45 teams have been deployed for relief and rescue operations in the wake of Montha. These include 10 teams in Andhra Pradesh, 6 in Odisha, 3 each in Tamil Nadu and Telangana, 2 in Chhattisgarh and 1 in Puducherry.
Administration advice not to go to the beach
People are advised not to go near the sea. It has been decided to stop vehicular traffic on the roads in the cyclone affected areas till Wednesday morning.
Government system ready for Cyclone Month
While the central government has reviewed preparedness to deal with Cyclone Montha, the health ministry has discussed emergency medical assistance measures with senior officials of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Tamil Nadu. All necessary assistance will be provided to the states for immediate medical care in case of any emergency, the ministry said.
