Pakistani actor Zahid Ahmed sparked controversy after making harsh comments about social media. During a podcast with Ahmed Ali Akbar, he said, “Social media is the work of the devil and those who create content on it will go to hell.”
Content creators reacted quickly. Adnan Zafar, also known as Ken Doll, criticized Zahid and called his statement “double standards.” He questioned why some people face harsh judgment while others get privileges. Many other creators joined, saying such remarks could mislead young audiences.
Zahid issued an immediate apology. He said, “I feel guilty that I declared them wrongdoers.” He added, “I have crossed my limits in sentiments. No one except almighty God has the right to declare anyone sinful.”
He clarified that he meant the creators of social media platforms, not the users. Zahid explained, “It was very important for me to accept this because many young people listen to my content regarding religion, and my words sent a very wrong message.”
Zahid also acknowledged the responsibility of public figures when speaking about religion. He urged people to focus on positive discussions instead of spreading negativity. Many appreciated his apology, calling it a sign of accountability and maturity.
The incident has reignited debates on freedom of speech, social media influence, and celebrity responsibility in Pakistan. Experts say it highlights the importance of careful communication, especially on sensitive topics like religion.
Zahid concluded by asking people to understand his intentions and focus on positive engagement online. His apology has calmed tensions, but discussions about social media ethics and public responsibility continue across various platforms.
