Inauguration of the Drone Port in Roing

Roing, Nov 5: In a significant advancement towards a 'Viksit and Technology-Driven Arunachal Pradesh,' the Arunachal Pradesh State Remote Sensing Application Centre (APSAC) inaugurated a cutting-edge Drone Port in Roing on Tuesday. This initiative represents a pivotal step in incorporating drone technology into governance, planning, and development.

The newly established Drone Port is set to transform aerial mapping, digital planning, and data-driven decision-making across various state departments. Deputy Commissioner Fwwrman Brahma (IAS), present at the inauguration, praised APSAC’s innovative approach and urged for its effective use to boost transparency and efficiency in governance.

“Utilizing drone technology for monitoring will be crucial in expediting project execution and enhancing public service delivery, particularly in our challenging geographical landscape,” Brahma stated, highlighting the importance of modern technology in evidence-based governance.

Dr. Liagi Tajo, Joint Director of APSAC, mentioned that the creation of Drone Ports aligns with Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s vision of integrating technology into all administrative sectors.

“With projects like the Arunachal Pradesh State Spatial Data Infrastructure (APSSDI) and the Arunachal Monitoring System (AMS), APSAC is facilitating easy access to spatial data for all departments. These technological innovations are essential for effective and sustainable development planning,” Dr. Tajo elaborated.

Providing a technical perspective, Er. Timothy Nima, Technical Officer at APSAC, explained that the Drone Port will function as a specialized operational center for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), supporting take-off, landing, charging, maintenance, and data transfer.

“The Roing Drone Port will enable aerial mapping, monitoring of forests and agriculture, mining oversight, infrastructure evaluation, disaster response, and skill enhancement,” Nima added.

In his concluding remarks, Deputy Director Nyelam Tath praised the collaboration of the district administration and reaffirmed APSAC’s dedication to broadening drone-based applications throughout all districts.

“APSAC’s initiatives are directly contributing to the goal of establishing a digitally empowered, innovation-driven Arunachal Pradesh,” he concluded.
