Bihar Election 2025 Phase 1: The first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 is scheduled to be held on November 6th. Voting will take place for a total of 121 seats across 18 districts of the state. Voting is now easier and more secure than ever, but many voters still have questions about how to cast their vote in the EVM, how long to press the button, and how to ensure that their vote is recorded correctly after casting. If you have these questions, the Election Commission has shared all the necessary information and instructions so that voters can be fully prepared and cast their votes. So let's explore what you should keep in mind while voting and what the voting process looks like.

Bihar Elections 2025: Things to Keep in Mind While Voting

Before casting your vote, it's crucial that your name is on the voter list. You can check this in three ways.

1. You can check by visiting the official online website of the Bihar elections.

2. Download the Voter Helpline App via a mobile app and enter your name and address.

3. Complete voter lists are available at all party camps at the polling station; you can also check your name there.

How to Vote Even If You Don't Have a Voter ID Card?

If you don't have a voter ID card, you can still vote. Your name must be on the voter list. You can use any valid ID to do so. Such as passport, driving license, government or public sector photo ID card, PAN card, Aadhaar card, post office passbook, MNREGA job card, health insurance card, photo pension card, National Population Register smart card, and identity card issued by an MP, MLA, or Legislative Council member. Bring any one of these identification cards to the polling booth, and your vote will be valid.

How does voting happen in an EVM, and how long should you press the button?

When you arrive at the polling booth, your identity card will be checked first. After this, you can cast your vote. EVMs have blue buttons next to the candidates' names and their symbols. To vote for a candidate, simply press that button. Many people think that it's necessary to press the button for a long time, but this is not the case. The Election Commission has clearly stated that your vote is recorded simply by pressing the button. As soon as you press the button, a small red icon lights up next to that candidate's name, and a long beep sound is heard. According to the technical information of the Election Commission, a maximum of 4 votes can be cast in an EVM in one minute.
