There is an atmosphere of happiness in the entire country at this time. The Indian women's cricket team has created history by becoming champion for the first time in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025. After this spectacular victory, on November 5, all the players of the team came to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. During this, the players took photographs with the PM, which are becoming increasingly viral on social media. In a special photo, Prime Minister Modi is seen standing between captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, but the surprising thing is that he did not even touch the World Cup trophy. Actually, there is a special reason behind this.
Why did PM Modi not touch the World Cup trophy?
Actually, there is a belief that only champions hold the World Cup trophy. This tradition honors the achievements of the players. Following this tradition, PM Modi avoided touching the trophy and gave full credit to the players. Although the Prime Minister of the country also has the right to touch the World Cup trophy, but PM Modi did not touch the trophy to honor the players. During this meeting, PM Modi heard the story of their victory from the players, congratulated them and wished them all the best for the future.

Historic moment for India
Winning the ICC Women's World Cup title is no less than a dream for India. This tournament was started in the year 1973. But the Indian team could not win the title even once. Despite reaching the finals twice, she remained one step away from the trophy. But under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian team was successful in ending this years-long wait. It also achieved the feat of defeating Australia, the most successful team of the tournament, in the semi-finals. Which was also their first defeat in the ODI World Cup after 2017.
