White discharge, i.e. a white liquid, is a normal process occurring in a woman’s body. It helps keep the vagina clean, moist and safe from infection. This is usually caused by hormonal changes before or after ovulation, menstruation or period.
Sometimes white discharge can also occur due to stress, weakness or lack of sleep. If the discharge itches, smells bad, or changes in color, this is abnormal. It is considered a sign of healthy functioning of the body. Also, there is no need to be afraid of it.
If the white discharge is excessive, yellow or brown in color, or has a foul odor, it may be a sign of infection or disease.
In such a situation, there is often itching or pain in the vagina. These symptoms may be caused by a fungal or bacterial infection, such as candidiasis or bacterial vaginosis. Sometimes, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can also cause it. If left untreated, the infection can spread to the uterus, causing future reproductive system problems.
In some cases, cervicitis or pelvic inflammatory disease may also be the cause. Which affects the uterus and fallopian tubes. In such a situation, there may be stomach ache, fever or pain during intercourse. Therefore, if there is any change in the discharge, do not ignore it. Also, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Also keep these things in mind: Clean your vagina daily, wear cotton underwear. Do not wear synthetic underwear.
Always keep private parts clean. Drink enough water. Take a balanced diet. Reduce stress and get enough sleep, as hormonal imbalance can also increase secretions. (All photos: Canva)
