ICC Reveals Women’s Player of the Month Nominees for October 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month for October 2025, which are two batters and one all-rounder – India’s Smriti Mandhana, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt and Australia’s Ash Gardner.

Laura Wolvaardt led South Africa from the front, smashing back-to-back centuries in the knockout games of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.

Smriti Mandhana was India’s leading run scorer in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, making some crucial knocks in the important games.

Meanwhile, Ash Gardner made an impressive all-rounder performance, helping the side to reach the knockout stages.

Laura Wovide (South African)

Laura Wolvaardt had an impressive campaign in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 in India, leading the side towards the finals in the tournament.

Despite a slow start, she picked up the pace with a game against India in the group stages. She got back in form and improved with each game, hitting fifties against Sri Lanka and Pakistan as the Proteas made it to the knockouts.

In the semi-final game against England, she proved to be a nemesis for the opponents, smashing 169 runs, as South Africa secured a dominating win to secure a spot in the finals.

During the finals, she smashed a century, easing up the chase. However, her dismissal saw the batting collapse as India claimed a 52-run victory.

Smriti Mandhana (India)

Smriti Mandhana was nominated after a scintillating performance in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. After a quiet start, Mandhana came out with a blistering 80 against Australia, followed by an 88-run knock against England.

She delivered a brilliant century against New Zealand in must must-win game, stitching a 212-run partnership with Pratika Rawal. She made some crucial contributions in the games against Bangladesh and Australia.

Ash Gardner (Australia)

Ash Gardner had an exceptional run with bat and ball in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 in the last week of the tournament. She produced two centuries in the games against New Zealand and England.

In the match against England, Gardner walked in after Australia were 68/4 and then produced a brilliant partnership of 180 runs with Annabel Sutherlandin which she added 104 runs off 73 deliveries. She picked seven wickets, providing crucial assistance for the side.

ICC Player of the Month voting process

The Nominees from either category are shortlisted based on their performance by the last day of the month. The Candidates are shortlisted and voted on by the ICC Voting Academy and fans around the World.

The ICC Voting Academy comprises renowned journalists, former players, and ICC Hall of Fame members. They submit their votes by email, which accounts for 90% of the voting members.

Fans registered with the ICC can also vote via the ICC website at icc-cricket.com/awards, which accounts for the remaining 10 per cent. Winners will be announced every second Monday of the month.
