If the winter morning starts with spicy, aromatic and hot tea, then energy remains throughout the day and one does not even feel cold. There are some traditional desi spices and herbs which when added to tea, increase both its taste and health manifold. Let us know those special things which must be included in tea during the cold season.

Ginger

Benefit- Keeps the body warm from within, provides relief from sore throat and cold.

How to add: While making tea, grate some fresh ginger and boil it in water.

Holy Basil leaves

Benefit- Increases immunity and prevents cold and cough.

How to add- Add 4–5 basil leaves in tea while boiling it.

Cinnamon

Benefit- Keeps the body warm, controls blood sugar and increases metabolism.

How to add-Add a small piece of cinnamon or a pinch of powder.

Cardamom

Benefit- Enhances taste and aroma, keeps digestion healthy.

How to add- Lightly crush 1–2 cardamoms and add them to the tea.

Clove

Benefit- Rich in anti-bacterial properties, provides relief from throat pain and cough.

How to add: Add 1–2 cloves and boil in water.

Black Pepper

Benefit- Relief from cold and cough, maintains heat and energy in the body.

How to add- Lightly crush 2–3 black peppers and add.

Honey or Jaggery

Benefits: Along with providing natural sweetness, it keeps the body warm and gives relief to the throat.

How to add: When the tea cools down a bit, add honey or add some jaggery while boiling.
