New Delhi: Reports of a potential trade deal between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) before IPL 2026 have created a stir in the cricket world. According to reports Ravindra Jadeja could be traded to Rajasthan in exchange for Sanju Samson. Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has given a strong statement on this. He believes that if this deal goes through Rajasthan Royals will become a formidable team. Rajasthan to Benefit Greatly: Ashwin Ashwin said on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’ that the pitches in Jaipur would be favorable for Jadeja and he would strengthen the team’s lower order. He said that with a player like Jadeja Rajasthan Royals would get a strong finisher.He said “Jadeja has performed brilliantly for Chennai in the last three years. He played a crucial role in winning the IPL 2023 final for the team. He has taken 38 wickets in 44 matches and bowled with an economy rate of 7.9.” Chennai Will Also Benefit But Still Needs a Finisher  Ashwin also acknowledged that Chennai Super Kings would benefit from Sanju Samson but the team would still feel the lack of a finisher.He said “With Samson’s arrival CSK will get a reliable batsman but they will have to look for a player in the auction who can finish matches in the final overs.” Jadeja Will Not Be Captain: Ashwin’s Claim Ashwin believes that Rajasthan Royals will not make Jadeja the captain as the team management works on a policy of developing young players.He said “The Rajasthan team is built on youth and mutual connection. It’s not easy to captain in the very first year. But this deal will be good for Jadeja as he can end his IPL career with the same team where he started.” Samson Will Not Get Captaincy at CSK Ashwin who has won the IPL twice with CSK says that if Samson joins Chennai he will not be given the captaincy. He said “I don’t think Samson will be given the captaincy because this will be his first season. Ruturaj Gaikwad should remain the captain although Samson could prove to be a strong option in the future.” Sam Curran’s Name Also Discussed in the Trade Deal According to reports Sam Curran’s name may also be included in this potential trade deal. If he also goes to Rajasthan the team will get a powerful all-rounder along with a fast bowler.Ashwin said “If both Jadeja and Curran go to Rajasthan it will give the team a new direction. Meanwhile Chennai will be in a position to buy a player like Cameron Green along with Samson from the auction.” Chennai’s Dilemma: Who Will Be the New Spinner? Ashwin also raised the question of where CSK will find a new spinner if Jadeja leaves. He said “Will Cameron Green be able to finish matches? Will CSK be able to manage Ben Stokes as well?
