News India Live, Digital Desk: Whenever we hear the name of Renuka Shahane, the picture of the smiling ‘Pooja Bhabhi’ of ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ or the graceful anchor of ‘Surbhi’ emerges in our mind. Her image has always been that of a clean and cultured actress. But behind this smile, she has also seen the disgusting face of the industry in her early days, talking about which even today the soul shudders. Recently, in one of her interviews, Renuka shared a scary story to casting couch, which shows how this world that is dazzling from outside can be hollow and unsafe from inside. What was that scary story? This is from those days when Renuka Shahane was in the industry. She was new and looking for work. She told that she went to meet a producer, who first talked about here and there and then came straight to the point. Renuka says, “That producer said something very strange to me. He said, ‘I am offering you to stay with me for a month.’ I remained numb for a moment after listening to him. I didn’t know what to answer. He further said, ‘You have come to Mumbai to become an actress, you must know how the work is done here.'” Hearing this disgusting proposal, Renuka immediately refused the producer and said that she is not such an actress. Mother gave support, there was panic in the industry. Renuka told that she came home and told this whole thing to her mother. His mother has always been his biggest strength. Her mother said, “Did he touch you? Next time you get any such ‘weird vibes’, just call me from a landline and tell me to come and get you, Mom.” Renuka also revealed that actresses during those times were so scared that they would often change their rooms in hotels, so that no one would know where they were staying. She told, “I knew that many heroines in the industry used to change their rooms at night. This was so common that girls themselves used to find ways to protect themselves.” This experience of Renuka Shahane is the story of the struggle of thousands of girls who come into this industry with big dreams and they have to face such people. This incident reminds us of the darkness hidden behind the glamor of Bollywood, where even today many girls have to fight with such disgusting offers along with their talent.
