In Srinagar, authorities in Pulwama have detained the father of a man believed to be the driver of the vehicle that detonated near the Red Fort. Ghulam Nabi Bhat was taken into custody from his home in Koil, shortly after his wife underwent a DNA test.
The suspect's mother, Shameema Begum, was accompanied to the hospital by her two sons for the DNA procedure.
Officials have also detained three individuals connected to the transaction of the vehicle involved in the explosion for further questioning.
Additionally, several doctors who had been associated with the suspect, Umar Nabi, in Faridabad have been apprehended, although no formal charges have been filed yet.
Umar Nabi, a resident of Pulwama and a medical professional, is suspected of driving the Hyundai i20 that was used in the blast near the Red Fort metro station's parking area.
CCTV footage has revealed the first images of the individual driving the car at the time of the explosion, and he is believed to have connections to a terror group in Faridabad, where a significant amount of explosive materials was confiscated.
Initial police investigations indicate that the blast may have involved ammonium nitrate, fuel oil, and detonators.
Sources suggest a potential connection between the explosion in Delhi and the Faridabad terror group, which had 360 kg of ammonium nitrate seized. Further reports are pending.
Muzamil, Umar Nabi's sister-in-law, expressed disbelief regarding his alleged involvement in terrorist activities, describing him as a reserved individual focused on his studies and work.
She mentioned that he had recently called to inform the family about his busy schedule with examinations and planned to return home shortly.
