The Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning for rain. The national weather agency warned a spell of "persistent and sometimes heavy rain is expected to move in from the south on Wednesday morning".
This has prompted the Met Office to issue an alert for 14 areas in Wales. It explained: "After heavy rain on Tuesday, conditions will improve briefly into Wednesday. However, another spell of persistent and sometimes heavy rain is expected to move in from the south on Wednesday morning. It's uncertain exactly where the heaviest rain will fall, so confidence is low about the highest totals in specific places within the warning area."
According to the Met Office, there is a possibility that flooding could affect homes and businesses, leading to damage in some buildings.
It explained that floodwater and spray may also cause hazardous travel conditions, resulting in road closures. In certain areas, communities could even be temporarily cut off if roads become impassable due to the rising water.
Forecasters expect widespread rainfall of about 20-30 mm over a 12-15 hour period, with some exposed areas, especially south-facing hills, likely receiving heavier totals of 40-50 mm.
Locals have been advised to check their property as it could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit, the Met Office has suggested.
