Chamba
Following the recent explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi, authorities in Chamba district have heightened security measures, especially in regions adjacent to Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. The police have significantly bolstered security in these sensitive areas.
As per the police headquarters, members of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) stationed in border regions have been ordered to maintain a state of high alert. Both short- and long-range patrols have been ramped up to closely monitor all movements.
Residents living in border areas are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious behavior or unknown individuals to law enforcement. Additionally, inter-state checkpoints along the borders with Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab have been strengthened, allowing vehicles into the district only after thorough inspections.
Security has also been enhanced at popular tourist spots throughout Chamba, with extra police personnel deployed to ensure the safety of visitors.
Chamba shares a 216-kilometer border with the sensitive districts of Doda and Kathua in Jammu & Kashmir, as well as Punjab’s Pathankot district.
Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani confirmed that all security forces in border areas have been instructed to remain alert and increase patrolling efforts. “We are closely monitoring all activities across the district, including inter-state checkpoints and tourist locations,” he stated.
