Al-Falah University, built in the Muslim-dominated Dhauj village of Faridabad district in Haryana, and its campus spread over 76 acres is in the headlines. The university has come under the scanner after a “white-collar terror module” and the arrest of three doctors in connection with the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. After the educated people were found “working at the behest of Pakistan-backed patrons”, investigators are probing how the university became a haven for such persons.
Al-Falah formed under Haryana Private University Act
According to the university’s website, it was established by the Haryana Legislative Assembly under the Haryana Private Universities Act. It was started as an engineering college in 1997. In 2013, Al-Falah Engineering College received ‘A’ category accreditation from the Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission (UGC). In 2014, Haryana government gave it the status of university. Al-Falah Medical College is also affiliated with this university.
According to many experts, in its early years, Al-Falah University emerged as an excellent alternative to Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia for minority students. In this, MBBS course started from the year 2019. 40% of the doctors in this university are from Kashmir.
Located just 30 kilometers away from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, the university is managed by the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which was established in 1995. The chairman of the trust is Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui. The vice president is Mufti Abdullah Qasimi MA and the secretary is Mohammad Wajid DME.
The current Registrar of Al-Falah University is Professor (Dr.) Mohammad Parvez. Dr. Bhupinder Kaur Anand is its Vice Chancellor. The university offers education in three colleges: Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology, and Al-Falah School of Education and Training.
650 bedded hospital in the university
This university also has a hospital with 650 beds, where doctors treat patients for free. Police said that they inspected the university throughout the day on Tuesday and interrogated many people.
Twelve people were killed and several others injured in a high-intensity blast in a car laden with explosives near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station on Monday evening. Pulwama’s doctor Mohammad Omar was an assistant professor at Nabi Al-Falah University. It is suspected that he was driving the Hyundai i20 laden with explosives.
The blast came hours after eight people, including three doctors associated with the university, were arrested and 2,900 kg of explosives were seized, revealing a “white-collar terror module” linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, which was spread across Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Among those arrested was Dr Muzammil Ganai al-Falah, who taught at the university.
