New Delhi: The five time IPL champions Mumbai Indians had a decent IPL season last year as they qualified for the semi-final last year but they will look to strengthen their side for IPL 2026. The IPL confirmed on Saturday that the MI bowling all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and in return brought back leg-spinner Mayank Markande through a trade with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). IPL 2026 Retention Rules The IPL 2026 season will not feature a mega auction. Instead a mini auction will be held giving all franchises greater control over their existing squads. Teams can decide which players to retain or release based on their budget and overall strategy. Teams may retain as many players as they want. Each squad must consist of 18-25 players. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction is scheduled to be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi making it the second year in a row that the auction will take place outside India. Earlier in 2024 and 2025 the IPL auction was held in Jeddah Saudi Arabi.
