Man Utd told transfer that 'takes them to next level' with club unable to stop them

Manchester United have been told that signing Antoine Semenyo would take Ruben Amorim's side to the 'next level' - and Bournemouth will be powerless to stop them. Semenyo, 25, started the season on fire with six goals and three assists in six Premier League games.

The Red Devils have prioritised signing players who are proven in the English top flight since Jason Wilcox became their sporting director, evidenced by the big-money arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. United are also keen on the likes of Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Joao Gomes and Adam Wharton, further proof that their focus is on domestic deals.

Semenyo was a target for the Red Devils this summer, with Amorim reportedly meeting him for a meal in London to assess the forward's character. Since then, Semenyo's stock has risen rapidly, prompting links with Liverpool and Tottenham.

It's recently emerged that the Ghana international has a £65million release clause which can be activated in January. Bournemouth therefore know that they won't be able to block Semenyo from leaving if he wishes, despite him signing a new five-year deal in July.

A club would have to trigger his clause within the first two weeks of the transfer window in order to give the Cherries sufficient time to find a replacement for the 25-year-old. United have a golden opportunity to sign Semenyo, and former Arsenal and Manchester City right-back Bacary Sagna thinks that Old Trafford would be a 'good destination'.

"Looking forward, if he was to leave Bournemouth and stay in the Premier League, I think Manchester United would be a suitable option for him," Sagna told Oddspedia. "He could definitely help the club get back to the top end of the league and if he did join them, he'd be regarded as the player which made the difference and take United to the next level.

"He's young, fresh and has proven he can shine in big games this season - so I think Old Trafford could be a good destination for him."

However, the Frenchman doesn't believe that Semenyo should quit Bournemouth just yet. "If I was Antoine Semenyo, I would stay at Bournemouth until the end of the season," Sagna added.

"As a player, moving clubs in the January transfer window can be disruptive; it's much better to stay until the summer and then make a decision, and integrate into the team properly - rather than joining midway through a campaign."

Semenyo will have the chance to audition at Old Trafford when Bournemouth make the visit on December 15. United aren't expected to spend big in January but in order to steal a march on their rivals, Wilcox and Co. might have to pull the trigger.
