A schoolgirl who died in unexplained circumstances has been pictured and named locally. Olivia Curley, 11, passed away at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow on Monday.
She had been taken to the hospital by ambulance a day earlier after falling ill in the Helensburgh area, Argyll and Bute. Olivia was a pupil at the Hermitage Academy in the town. A council spokesperson confirmed it was offering support to Olivia's family, as well as pupils and staff at her school.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said the death was being treated as unexplained, with enquiries underway.
The spokesperson told the Daily Record: "Around 11.40am on Monday, November 17, we received a report of an 11-year-old girl taken unwell in the Helensburgh area.
"She had been taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow on Sunday, November 16, and died on Monday, November 17.
"The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
An Argyll and Bute Council spokesperson said the authority was "devastated" to hear of Olivia's death.
"Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this awful time," the spokesperson said.
"We are providing ongoing support to their family along with staff and pupils at the school."
