APAAR Card: A new APAAR Card is about to be issued for Anganwadi children. What are the benefits of this card, and how will it work? Learn about the important information.

Apaar Card: Many documents are required for people in the country. The government has now made a new card mandatory for young children as well. This card is called the Apaar Card. 95.77 lakh children studying in Anganwadi centers across the country will now receive their Apaar ID card. This will include children between three and six years of age. Children will first receive Aadhaar, and the Apaar ID will be created based on it.

This ID will serve as a permanent educational record for children, containing all information related to their studies. With this identification number, all children's activities can be digitally tracked, and benefits of government schemes can be easily accessed. This work is scheduled to begin in January 2026. Learn how the Apaar Card is created and its benefits.

What is the Apaar Card?

The Apaar card is a unique digital ID for children designed to store all their education-related information in one place. It digitally stores information about the child's Anganwadi or school, their age, vaccinations, academic progress, transition records, exam results, and other important information. This allows for instant, paperless access to a child's entire record. The card is valid nationwide, so even if a child moves, their education data can be easily tracked.

How will the Apaar ID be created?

The Directorate of Integrated Child Development Services has created a separate section for the Apaar ID on the Nutrition Tracker. After each child's Aadhaar is generated, the Apaar ID will be downloaded from the Nutrition Tracker app. More than 100,000 Anganwadi workers are being trained to create this ID. The card will contain the child's name, date of birth, photo, ID number, and other important information.

The government stated that this ID will be useful for everything from school admissions to scholarships, health records, and nutrition tracking. Under the Education Policy 2020, it is being integrated with the National Digital Education Infrastructure. This will ensure that children's data remains secure and updated even when they move from one location to another.

Why is the Apaar Card necessary?

The Apaar ID will create a permanent 12-digit identity for children. This will allow a child's entire educational information, from pre-primary to higher education, to be recorded in one place. Report cards, exam results, immunization data, health records, and nutrition information will also be integrated into the ID. Enrollment after changing schools will be easier, and tracking dropouts will help bring them back to school. Benefiting from government schemes will also become easier, as every child's data will be available digitally. This ID will remain active even after leaving the Anganwadi and the child can use it throughout their life.
